Overview:
Bioleum Resources is a technology company that is being incubated by the Science and Technology Park, University of Poona, and promoted by the Department of Science and Technology, (DST) Government of India.
Presently, Bioleum is in the process of development of clean technologies in the renewable energy space in collaboration with prestigious national labs and institutes like the NCL, IITB, IISc and IPR to subsequently commercialize them.
Objective:
“Research, development and commercialization of advanced technologies to economically convert biomass into ultra clean, 2nd generation Biofuels”
2nd Generation Biofuels:
These include Cellulosic Ethanol and BTL (Biomass-to-Liquid). These fuels exhibit better productivity than the 1st generation Biofuels and can be produced using waste biomass as feedstock thus without displacing the food crops. Bioleum’s focus is on the BTL (Biomass-to-Liquid) fuels since they offer better energy conversion efficiency and other advantages over cellulosic ethanol.
Bioleum Innovation:
The present BTL Plants being built are designed to carry out large scale operations leading to high level of investments posing an entry barrier. Large scale also requires large amounts of feedstock to be transported to the plant site from remote locations, leading to cost escalation, shortage, and increased emissions.
Our objective is to meet these challenges through research, development and commercialization of advanced technologies based on Fuel Flexible and Modular Architecture. Bioleum caters to the present and future liquid transportation fuel and energy needs in an economical and environment friendly way.
