The Wind Coalition
OGCC017549?

The United States of America’s south central states are rich in wind energy potential. The Wind Coalition is a non-profit association designed to promote the development of wind energy as a clean, reliable, affordable and infinite resource at the regulatory and legislative levels within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) grid systems. The Wind Coalition is the regional partner of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) for this area.

Texas leads the nation in wind energy produced while maintaining and developing a favorable business climate largely because of the efforts of the Wind Coalition. While the success in Texas is remarkable, it also brings new challenges, threats of restrictions, and vigilance to maintain and grow this market. SPP is going to rival Texas with regulatory and legislative activity over the next few years while political and regulatory leaders seek to imitate the success in Texas.

Obviously, the challenges in this region for transmission, siting restriction, and potential renewable portfolio standards are great. We have learned over the years that a vibrant, active regional advocate is key to the proper development for wind. We need you to join us in our efforts. Your financial commitment is obviously important, but equally important is the knowledge and collaborative work our member companies provide in each of these states. We are currently developing a strategic plan for each state, providing testimony in legislative hearings, and monitoring and providing testimony before regulatory bodies at both ERCOT and SPP. We have an active, experienced lobby team in place in several of these states, but we also need your voice.
