Business Overview:
Ether2's efficient architecture will save 3% from our national electric bill and close the global digital divide by implementing a broadcast architecture that can eliminate traditional routing hardware and use less energy per bit transfered. Additionally, because we have collectively experienced an Internet in which security was not an original concern, we will build network security into the architecture. As to data security, 75% of our chip will be available to run anti-malware applications system on chip in a 100% distributed network under any topology. Our core intellectual property lies in collision detection and the ability to resolve collisions faster than the channel can carry packet data. Therefore, employing a broadcast architecture will enable future networks to add users without additional overhead so that we can enjoy a data network economy of scale similar to any traditional broadcast network TV or radio station.

We need $100,000 to complete a 3-4 month technical plan including six FPGA developer kits, tools and engineering hours. The resulting wireless prototype network will serve as the basis for the future of WiFi, 4G, ZigBee or any other wireless or terrestrial 802.x network.
What is your total and operating cash burn (the amount you're spending) per month? :
We are an all volunteer brigade at this point. Our only expenses can be associated with team meetings in a restaurant or travel expenses to Silicon Valley for pitch events. If traveling, the burn is $500 plus presentation fees, if any. Otherwise, we meet twice a month at approximately $50-75 per meeting depending on the restaurant.
How many future rounds of financing do you project? :
Three: Completion of the seed round, an A round in the $5-7mm range to be followed by IPO.
Who is the Customer?:
Everyone. We can cite applications from the home/office to the data center and carrier class. Primary application is wireless backhaul and multi-antenna mesh networks that can grow infinitely. We are an IP company that will become the Dolby of data networking by promoting full open source switching without middle hardware.
What is the Customer Pain that you are solving?:
The Internet cannot and never will perform as well as a cable TV network, but video is driving its growth. We eliminate the bottlenecks by eliminating the router. Too many more to mention, such as breaking Moore's law with an end solution where we have formerly seen only 30 years of incremental improvement.
Names of any current or recent customers:
Because we are still in alpha mode, our "customers" are engineers that have agreed to implement our IP...namely UC, Irvine, and The Dash7 Alliance which likes us for the wireless backhaul application and will be distributing our technology within their protocol stack.
What is the Target Market?:
Cellular backhaul, wireless backhaul, carrier and wireless device as network/mass market OEMs.

Technology
What makes the technology/business unique and have a defendable competitive advantage?:
It's not hard to improve upon the legacy 802 MAC. However, we have done so with a migration path for legacy devices for the first time in history. We license a family of four patents from Illinois Institute of Technology and we have more patents to file.

What are the principles of the technology? :
Combining the highest levels of Quality of Service with strict determinism. This brings pseudo wire performance for any network, thereby creating the best of both the circuit and packet switched worlds.
What, if anything, has been proven (and how far is this from a commercial scale)? :
We are now at Commercial Readiness Level 5 on the federal government 9 level scale. Our protocol is designed in software and ready for the implementation schedule that will bring us to CRL 7. In terms of the IEEE peer review process and 20 years of fundamental research from academic institutions the world over, engineers have proven the technology in simulation many, many times.
What challenges/risk does the technology face for commercialization?:
Wrong premise. The question should read, "what's the risk if not commercialized?"
Answer: another 30 years of incremental improvement and leaving the whole thing up to Verizon and ATT...ouch. We should already have mesh networks that get stronger as they get larger. We should already have smart cities. We should already have citizens broadband (CB) radio with little or no reliance on carrier access points.
