Business
Business Overview:
Closed-Loop Zero-waste Zero-Carbon Business-Model set up through AGRO-POLYMER INDUSTRY-COMPLEX SUSTAINABILITY ENGINEERED PROJECTS (APIX-SEP). Local Renewable Resources (RR) converted to: Energy, Engg. Materials, Bio-petrochemicals & processed foods. Village cluster using 1000 ha area RR (APIX_1000) could generate $20 M + businesses each. India has $2 trillion worth business potentials. APIX_Pilot project converts Agrowastes and Wood wastes (costing $700,000) into 550 MW power (used insitu for manufacturing); 110 T Crockery; 7500 T Molded Doors; 338 T Biofertilizer and 7.5 T "green" sulfur. Market values are $14 million (20 times base value). Carbon credits for Pilot project estimated @ 4000. Initial investment of $2.15 million estimated to generate $200 M sales by yr 6 end (without additional funding)... Please visit: http://zerowastezerocarbon.wordpress.com/

Project Location:
Bangalore, KA, 560079India
Project Website:
http://zerowastezerocarbon.wordpress.com/ What are your future milestones, and how much capital will you need to achieve each of the milestones outlined?:
Phase – 1: Time period for Company formation, Office set up, legal issues sorting, and various
State, Local Registrations and licensing. It is during this period that we plan to raise Funds for the
Project ... 3 months (Starting August, 2010)
Phase – 2: Land arrangement through Lease, Plant and Machinery Order placement, site
preparation, and initial set up as per project execution plan ... 3 months (Starting Nov 2010)
Phase – 3: Procurement of Plant/ Machinery, erection and initial trials; first year personnel recruitment, training and minimum operation arrangements … 3 Months (starting Feb 2011)
Phase – 4: Initial Product-Market matching and Market stabilization ... 3 months (Starting May 2011)
What is your total and operating cash burn (the amount you're spending) per month? :
204, 750 (Yr 2 operation, 2012)
How many future rounds of financing do you project? :
We do not estimate any new rounds of external funds. The cash accruals would be high enough for us to pool back three additional investments, through internal generation itself: Yr 3 = $1,041,667; Yr 4 = $1,250,000; Yr 5 = 2,291,667. The production-turnover doubles in 4th year; trebles in 5th yr and increases sixfold in 6th year
Services Desired:
Accounting
Legal-Corporate
Human Capital/Recruiting
Legal-Intellectual Property
Distribution/Sales
Marketing
Capital Broker/Dealer
Who is the Customer?:
Zero-Waste Zero-Carbon Business-Model (ZW-ZC-BM) projects aim at hundreds of potential New Entrepreneurs in 160 Tropical nations. APIX_Pilot Project (this project) has products whose Customers are households, commercial industries in a about ten Cities in India, out of 650 + cities/towns
What is the Customer Pain that you are solving?:
Global Warming & Poverty (GWP) affect 160 Tropical nations; poverty compels people to migrate;
high energy cost, scarcity of human material needs; environment degradation: these
interrelated problems addressed and overcome through wealth creation by developing ZW-ZC-BM
Names of any current or recent customers:
We have enquiries from the following countries for ZW-ZC-BM: Venezuela, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, Indonesia, Philippines
What is the Target Market?:
India's market defined based on RR availability: 100000 MW Power; 100 Million T Biopetrochemicals;
100 M T Engg. Materials; 500 M T processed foods; 400 M jobs. 635000 villages (average cluster within 4 villages) would be benefited. All other tropical nations have various potentials, based on available RR. Total world potentials estimated @ $4 trillion. APIX_Pilot would produce a fraction of these; planning over $10 billion in 12 yrs
How big is the Target Market in terms of Annual Sales?:
> $50B
Sales/Marketing Strategy:
Two Products systems: APIX_1000 clusters and Manufactured products. The former to be marketed through interactions at Government Development institutions (direct marketing & Conference Invitees). Invited audiences to be Officials and entrepreneurs. Product marketing through regular distribution/ sales channels for the individual product systems. Sales personnel would be trained from local villages through training and commission-incentives
Provide use cases :
Under progress, for the main Products in the Pilot Plant: Crockery and Molded Doors
Competition:
Clean-tech ventures: ZW-ZC-BM that is implemented by all-encompassing APIX-SEP does not seem to have immediate Competitor; the nearest is the “Bio-Refinery” conceived by NREL, US: http://www.nrel.gov/biomass/biorefinery.html which is “energy-centric”, without other value added products; This APIX_Pilot Products compete with regular Crockery/ Melamine Crockery, Wood substitute Doors, and Chemical fertilizers
One-line Pitch:
Self Regenerative Recycling of locally available Renewable Resources, converting vegetation and organic matter into high value Industrial/ Consumer products and Bio-energy, with minimum carbon footprint
Business Model:
Main Business-Model: Joint-Venture Partnerships elicit 49% stakes for technology, reducing
stakes to 19% through “buy-back” in 5th yr. The other: Owned manufacturing earns through
products sales
Product/Services Overview (what does it do):
While the various products in APIX Projects are a basket of utilitarian products + energy + biofertilizers that are all GREEN products, competing with traditional products in the market (in aesthetics, cost and durability), the overall effect is mitigation of Global Warming. Additionally, as these projects are based on village level (available) RR materials, the location would be in villages (India alone having over 635,000 villages), local people would have full time employment. This offsets migration, as the people would have better living facilities in villages, through good wage earnings. Congestion and other problems of cities would ease, as a "reverse" migration could occur. Please see a few PRODUCTS here: http://zerowastezerocarbon.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/representaive-was...
Technology
What makes the technology/business unique and have a defendable competitive advantage?:
we are, for the first time, developing a Closed-Loop zero-waste business model wherein the entire raw materials that are sourced through locally available plants/ vegetation matter etc would be completely used, and finally recycled. Joint-ventures offer FREE Know-how, continual Tech. support and patent rights transferred; individual products being patented; GREEN Certifications would be obtained; both form
entry barriers. Products/ Technology/ Business form disruptive models
Describe in detail the technology used in the Project - Address the innovation in significant detail :
Energy generation through Organic matter (vegetation etc) conversion into Biogas; Biogas purification through special processes, precipitating Sulfur; CO2 sequestered using certain industrial wastes; Biogas of 99% purity burned in modified IC engines to utilize up to 77% of all heat energy (Electricity + heat). Banana Fibers converted into Molded Household crockery through Polymer Composite technology; Wood wastes and other weed plants (fibrous) converted into Wood Substitute Molded Doors through Advanced Composites technology; all water recovered and all biomatter converted into biogas
What are the principles of the technology? :
Any Plant/ Vegetation could be separated into fibrous and sludge matter. The fibrous matter could be converted into Advanced Engineering Composites using additional systems; the sludge matter could be converted into Biogas. Biogas (after purification) and CO2 sequestering (using Calcarious Industrial wastes) could be converted into Electricity + heat in IC Engines, where the Exhaust heat would be used for the Composites processes
What, if anything, has been proven (and how far is this from a commercial scale)? :
All the above are proven ... although High volume commercial level production needs to be undertaken. That is the job of this project
What challenges/risk does the technology face for commercialization?:
All the technologies are tried and Tested ones. The challenge is to "combine all these together" and operate a truly Closed-Loop Zero-Waste Zero-Carbon Business-Model
Patent Numbers (Filed/Approved):
Patents have not been filed; but would be done as the project progresses
