OnGreen announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the China Technology Exchange (CTEX), a technology transaction service provider jointly established by Beijing Municipal People’s Government, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the State Intellectual Property Office.
The two parties have agreed to jointly enhance investment & financing services, build an intellectual property service platform and intensify collaboration and services for Sino-US cleantech projects. The first phase of the CTEX partnership commences as OnGreen embarks on the OnGreen Venture Roadshow in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles next month. This December Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa will join OnGreen to bring a group of top-notch cleantech companies to Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai, China. One of the first events will take place at CTEX’s headquarters in Beijing where U.S. entrepreneurs will engage with 200+ investors and market entry partners from China.
The Chinese government, facing severe pollution issues and energy shortages, has made cleantech a cornerstone of its economic security and development plans. Thus, the MOU aims to further the advancement of energy savings, emission reduction, new energies, new materials and other clean technologies as China kicks off its new five year strategic plan. In conjunction with the government’s focus, CTEX is targeting seven emerging strategic industries - energy conservation and environmental protection, new information technology, biotechnology, high-level equipment manufacturing, alternative energy, alternative materials, and new energy vehicles – to expand its growth in the coming years.
To deliver on its mission of "technology+capital+service", CTEX is currently building Internet platforms for technology transactions, financing and “the Market-based Operation Platform of the Technical Policies” and offering such services as intellectual property protection, patent licensing and transfer and trademarks registration.
OnGreen’s CEO Nikhil R. Jain remarked, “This is a landmark agreement for OnGreen to support CTEX’s mission while also ensuring cross-border businesses, investors and government are on the same page towards delivering on common clean energy and environmental goals.”
Since the launch of OnGreen, the company has signed agreements with the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce, Chrysalix Clean Energy Capital, SB China Venture Capital (SBCVC), and Hotung Group to further the investment and commercialization of cleantech.
