CINCINNATI, OH. – January 25, 2011 – The US Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E) selected Pilus Energy to present in the 2011 ARPA-E Technology Innovation Showcase at the Energy Innovation Summit, 28 February - 02 March, 2011.
The Summit venue is the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, National Harbor, MD.
Pilus Energy is developing an electrogenic bioreactor (EBR). The EBR harnesses genetically enhanced bacteria and harvests the direct current (DC) electricity and economically important biogases while remediating wastewater.
The EBR produces DC, hydrogen gas, and methane/natural gas (NG) from their metabolism of nearly four-hundred organic compounds typically suspended in wastewater. As a result of the metabolism, BOD, COD, VOC, and waterborne pathogens are transformed into usable products; creating a scalable waste-to-value proposition.
Pilus Energy will have its second-generation EBR at the ARPA-E Technology Showcase in Showcase #279.
The EBR is a scalable convergent platform. In its final state, the EBR is ubiquitously deployable in portable, distributed, micro-grid, and centralized energy production sites. In each case, it should provide remediation, biogas, and electrogenic production for residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation applications.
At the Summit, Pilus Energy will introduce Phyllis Scalettar PhD, its Vice President for Government Affairs. Jason E. Barkeloo, Pilus Energy's President commented, "Dr. Scalettar is an entrepreneurial leader. Her experiences include founding and operating critical government agencies and launching for-profit and not-for-profit startups. Her insights and strategic market understandings come at a critical junction in our Company's growth. We are fortunate to continue attracting exceptional colleagues like Phyllis."
Jason and Phyllis are available for joint-venture and strategic partnership inquiries. The Showcase hours are Monday, 28 February, 5-8PM, Tuesday, 01 March, 1150AM - 1245PM and 545-745PM. Direct appointments are available through Laura Fairbanks at tele: +1.513.368.2213.
About Pilus Energy
Pilus Energy is developing alternative cleantech energy solutions based upon bacterial metabolism that consume waste molecules and produce electricity and economically important biogases. Pilus Energy intends to sell low-cost, scalable electrogenic bioreactor platforms. The Company will provide consumables and accessories to the EBR platform. Pilus Energy will drive additional revenues from carbon and renewable energy credits (REC) generated by the bioreactors.
