Our First Knowledge Exchange Sustainable Development and the Real Estate Industry
“Sustainable Development (SD) is a pattern of growth in which resource use aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for generations to come”. (Brundtland Commission 1983)
Exploring the potential of SD, our project looks at knowledge flows and exchanges, as well as the formation of environmentally conscious action groups. Project partners include universities from Hong Kong and Shenzhen, industry and professional associations, local and foreign companies. These organizations comprise green/clean technology, public agencies, think-tanks, NGOs and public representatives.
In SD everyone is a user and provider of information, therefore broad public participation in decision making is a fundamental requisite for achieving lasting SD goals.
