Some great tips came out of the recent panel on Social Media for Green Tech at Clean Tech LA's Social Media Week. We had five outstanding panelists, and they've shared a number of their favorite tools.

From Chathri Munasinghe of Opportunity Green:

Below are a few of the sites I mentioned:

* http://www.twellow.com: The Twitter Yellow Pages. Search by key term like "clean tech" "business" "green". Great place to find people in your sector or common interests
* http://www.wefollow.com: People will add THREE tags of the top three things they represent. ie "music" "los angeles" "drummer". Great place to find people in your sector or common interests
* http://www.klout.com: The Klout Score is the measurement of your overall online influence. The scores range from 0 to 100 with higher scores representing a wider and stronger sphere of influence.
* http://www.bit.ly: Place to shorten links but also provides stats on how many people clicked your link and when and from what channels.
* http://www.twtvite.com - create twitter invites for your local meetup

Thanks again for a great panel and make sure to add me via twitter and LinkedIn:

From Vincent Williams from http://www.PGAgreen.org:
Social Media Sites:

http://www.Hootsuite.com - Scheduling Tweets, FB, Linkedin and Ping.FM updates. Best feature is the ability to assign team members the ability to post to social sites without giving them master passwords or admin access on each site directly.

http://www.Onlywire.com - Syndicates your articles across the web to 30+ platforms. Gets your content on Google in minutes. Great for creating tons of backlinks.

http://www.http://www.Ping.fm - Syndicates your social media posts to micro blogging platforms across the web. Ping is geared toward propagating updates rather than articles.

http://www.Ustream.com - Free live streaming platform. They offer streaming software on the android, iphone, mac and pc platforms.

http://mashable.com/2009/05/25/twitter-to-facebook/ - Great article that explains how to autoupdate Twitter from Facebook

My favorite iphone apps

Hootsuite for iPhone - Portable version of Hootsuite that allows scheduling FB/Linkedin/Twitter posts on-the-go

Twittelator Pro - The app allows you to instantly post video, audio, photos and text to Twitter by automatically posting to twitpics, etc. Easy to use and worth the price.

Analytics - Check your Google Analytics data on your phone.

Ustream Recorder - Allows your team to post to your Ustream channel high quality video from the field. Ustream also provides an app called Ustream Live for the iphone. The quality is low, but the video is streamed live rather than uploaded from the phone.

CMS (Content Management Systems)
http://www.Joomla.org - joomla.org - Free, open source content management system that is heavily supported by a ton of third party developers. Most extensions to the software are available free of charge.

http://www.Newnectar.com - Developers of Joomfb - allows you to create a microsite on your Facebook page.

http://www.Rpxnow.com - Janrain, formerly RPX. Platform that allows users to login to your site using Facebook, Myspace, Linkedin, Twitter, Yahoo, Google, Open ID and more! Incredibly easy to implement if you are on Joomla or Drupal cms.

From Nikhil at http://www.ongreen.com

Here are some of the tools I had mentioned:

OAuth: http://www.oauth.net

API with LI, TW and FB for your sites

Google Toolbar: http://www.google.com/toolbar

Provides easy access to networks such as LI, FB and Twitter

Social Oomph: http://www.socialoomph.com
Lets you add multiple social networking accounts and schedule tweets

AddThis: http://www.addthis.com

You can put this button on your sites so users can share quickly on their favorite social networks

Quantcast: http://www.quantcast.com

Lets you measure your audience demographics

BTW, OnGreen's next event’s details are here: http://www.ongreen.com/thought-leadership/events/ongreen-demo-day-septem... - let me know if you are able to attend. Thanks.

And Deep shared this great video of a Price Is Right episode showcasing a solar cabana from his site, http://www.gogreensolar.com: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVjeInSWARE

Thanks again to our panelists and to the audience. I thought it was a very useful session.
