I am looking to expand my horizons in the CleanTech area for our portfolio and would like to know more about the various networking events and Venture groups available in the Southern California region. Is it possible to point them out to me?
Thanks

Hello Los Angeles Solar/Renewable Energy Fans,
Hope everyone is doing well and gearing up for a great Holiday Season. Please note that we will not have a formal meeting in December. Instead, we'll have a Margarita/Holiday Happy Hour on Tuesday December 15. Please see details end of email and RSVP/let me know if you are planning to come and have a Holiday Cheer!
The following is a recap of what we discussed in our second meeting and our plans for 2010:
1. The group decided to organize the ASES National Solar Tour as our "Anchor Event" for next year. The date will be Sat October 2, 2010 (First Sat in October)
2. It was suggested that we solicit nominations for sites around Los Angeles that are truly unique and special in terms of architecture and other renewable and energy efficiency features, which would attract more attendance.
3. It was also suggested to also include commercial sites on this tour to attract business owners as tour participants in addition to home owners and general public.
4. We will be forming a steering committee to start organizing all the aspects of the event, such as soliciting site nominations, selection, marketing, volunteer coordination etc. Please let me know if you are interested in spearheading any of these activities....your participation is vital in making Los Angeles Solar Tour happen and making it a success.
5. Membership. Now that we have established the group's goals and objectives and decided on an anchor event for next year, it was suggested that we need to reach out to all the remaining ASES members in the Los Angeles area that have not been active so far, and invite them to join the group and get involved. I will contact ASES to get those names.
6. Note: If you have signed the ASES Chapter Formation Request sheet, but are not yet an ASES member please let me know. Per their bylaws, 20 or more national ASES members are required to request a formal chapter.
7. If you know anyone who is interested to find out more about Los Angeles Renewable Energy Society, and what we are all about and get involved, please email me their names/emails and I will include them in our past and current correspondence.
8. Ron Mulick who is spearheading SOCALSEIA talked to us about the groups mission and accomplishments such as working with LADWP to decrease the rebate payout processing time and working with Habitat for Humanity to install solar panels for low income family housings. As there seems to be synergy between the two organizations, we will look for partnering opportunities such as LARES/ASES National Solar Tour.
