Tony Michaels

Dr. Tony Michaels provides advice on sustainability technologies across the Pegasus portfolio.  Dr. Michaels has a broad expertise across many aspects of sustainable business including green technology, aquaculture, food production, water and sustainable operations.  He co-founded Proteus Environmental Technologies as a novel strategy for the commercialization of transformative environmental technologies. He is Chief Executive Officer of PhycoSystems, a company that combines algae-based renewable energy technologies with aquaculture to provide combined economic benefits to each. From 1996 to 2008, Dr. Michaels was the Director of the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Southern California. He was the founding President of the Council of Environmental Deans and Directors, an organization that now includes over 150 colleges and universities and sits on the governing or advisory boards of a number of companies, academic organizations, federal agencies and charities.
