University of Michigan Joint IP Research Team

This team, made up of graduate students at the University of Michigan, is performing a year-long study alongside OnGreen and the Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy to better understand what contractual designs allow for win-win relationships between Chinese investors and U.S. innovators in cleantech.

We will perform an especially thorough analysis of one partnership model in particular. In this newly proposed model, Chinese state-owned enterprises (SOEs) would fund research at U.S. universities and create jointly owned intellectual property (IP). This will be a place for the team to both blog about our research progress and post our general thoughts pertaining to cleantech, sustainability, and intellectual property.
