Funding of renewable energy projects

We have a UK investment fund that has committed to over $1.1B to our firm for wind farm and renewable energy projects, that we structure and underwrite according to S&P Criteria BBB or better.

This is a ONE-STOP-SHOP for all financial services required to fund Renewable Energy.

Our financial services include:

- Bond Structure and registration

- Underwriting to S&P criteria

- Wind speed insurance (without broker fees)

We are interested in wind power (USA) first, and other renewables second.

The current appetite is for wind deals that we can reach financial close for during this calendar year.

Optimal wind projects for our investor will have the following basic elements:

1. Wind study by major national firm, with confirmed P50, P75, P90-99 at or near hub height; based on multi year wind data from site and other available sources in vicinity.

2. Financial model showing DCR at P50 wind speed (as confirmed by wind study) at approximately 1.6:1; DCR at P90 1:1. (If a loan period of 15 years is necessary to meet the P50 DCR goal, that is acceptable. Minimum loan period is 10 years).

3. Permits in place

4. PPA Exit Identified or, an alternative (lower quality) temporary off take arrangement, confirmed, to use as an interim price benchmark to determine revenue levels, and DCR, and thus set interest rate.

Assuming a short term PPA with a highly rated utility is implemented during the construction period, (PURFA and/or Government) we would undertake to reset the interest rate to reflect the higher credit quality.

We are willing to meet the PPA utility to prove the client’s finances are in order, (after initial underwriting/credit analysis and investor commitment) so they may secure a finalized long term PPA.

With the above in place, we organize the wind speed insurance, tax grant team, lender, equity investor if needed, turbine supplier if needed.

The result is a non-recourse low interest loan, of which 30% is paid off at the end of construction.
