Biography

Rogelio was recently appointed as the Chief Technology Officer for Acodavision a Los Angeles based start up that is engaged in bringing Sensory Substitutional Devices (SSD) to assist blind people “to see” using sounds and tactile stimulation. He was the President of Nochebuena R&D, a small consulting organization based in Pasadena with primary industry focus is breakthrough technologies and devices. He is also a Sr. Consultant for MindForce Consulting an international network of consultants conducting Technology Assessment and Commercialization of IP for the Venture Capital Industry and others.

Mr. Nochebuena’s areas of expertise are semiconductors and opto-electronics design and processing, medical devices, business strategy, marketing, new product development, and managing R&D.
He is a proven business strategist having assisted companies to expand operations, create additional sources of revenue; and has also worked on divestitures and evaluated M&A deals.

For the last 15 years he has been involved in diverse clean tech activities, in particular with solar related R&D projects that include concentrated photo-voltaic (CPV) with concentration levels of more than 800 suns using multi-junction devices and non- imaging optics that have large angle of acceptance, such combination results in more relaxed specs for the tracker and also permits the use of plastic housings covered with thin-film highly reflective mirrors, instead of aluminium cells.
His semiconductor expertise permits him to do also work with Silicon (mono and multi-crystal)PV devices and with thin-film devices that use either Cd-Te or CIG/CIGS technology. Where he has assisted clients with process development to improve their yield or select the best tools to get the job done.

Other projects include very cost solar water heater technology developed in Mexico (less than $50.00 per cells, capable to heat up to 30 liters per cell continuously and able to reach temperatures of >80C
He has also worked in energy storage devices that include super capacitors using nanolaminates and other projects related to the use of Carbon Nanotubes and other organic nanotubes with applications in heat shielding, strengthening materials and water filtration.

Mr. Nochebuena has more than 20 years of experience in high technology; he has worked in Fortune 100 as well as start-ups, including Agilent Technologies, Xerox PARC, Perkin-Elmer, Carl Zeiss, etc. Having the correct mixture of physical and biological sciences, and has been involved in the development of a variety of projects; serving in senior technical and marketing positions.

Mr. Nochebuena got his BSEE from National Polytechnic Institute and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University; he holds a MBA from Pepperdine University.
He has spoken in a number of panels in local and international seminars and conferences; he is member of the Executive Committee for the Caltech/MIT Enterprise Forum and held the position of Chapter Vice-Chair for the IEEE Laser and Electro-Optics Society Los Angeles Chapter. He is an Adjunct Professor of Business Strategy at Pepperdine University
