Biography
Dr. Senthil Chinnasamy has a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and a Masters and Ph.D in Microbiology. He was leading the University of Georgia's (UGA) Algae Biofuels Project and co-ordinating Anaerobic Digestion Research Program at the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering from 2007-2010.He has vast experience in waste management and commercial scale cultivation of sugarcane and bioethanol production from sugarcane molasses. He was working on the eco-friendly treatment and utilization of molasses based ethanol industry effluents for about 10 years. He developed a unique zero liquid discharge "composting technology" for the treatment and utilization of molasses based ethanol industry effluent and sugar industry wastes into eco-friendly organic manure for horticulture, agriculture and aquaculture applications. He has worked in research and outreach related to environmental biotechnology over 10 years. He has about 10 years of academic research experience on microalgae and more than 10 years of industrial research experience in the field of bioconversion of industrial wastes into value added products.
