I am Ongreen Campus Ambassador and also a master student majoring in environmental engineering in Shanghai. My research focuses on removal ammonia with immobilized nitrfiers.
A stable and long-term partial nitrification (nitrite accumulation higher than 80%) of immobilized nitrifiers more than 300 days has been achieved by quickly stepwise increase of influent ammonia concentration.Investigation on partial nitrification under different parameters (DO, T, C/N) demonstrated that a desired partial nitrification of immobilized nitrifiers can be achieved at pH 7.8~8.5, DO 3~5 mg/L and temperature of 24~31°C. Analyzed immobilized nitrifiers community structure by PCR-DGGE showed that Nitrobacter Sp.219 and Nitrobacter Sp.263, which appeared in the nitrification system, were absent in the partial nitrification system. Now my current research concentrates on starting up an ANAMMOX reactor as the secondary reactor after the partial nitrification reactor.
I am in pursuit of new opportunities abroad to expand my knowledge of environmental engineering. I hope I could be enrolled by the World-class academic univeristies in the US 2011.
